EDGAR’S POV

Ever since I first experienced fear, I was fascinated by it. An emotion that rendered a creature so helpless, so pathetic, so vulnerable. I was mesmerized by what it made people think, say, and do. It was truly a paradox, and that is what makes it so interesting. By releasing chemicals into the bloodstream, a human is given a brief but powerful burst of energy, making them faster, stronger, and more aware. This is called ‘fight or flight’, and I knew that if I could master it, I would be unstoppable.

Another aspect of fear was how it is used by humans. When humans experience fear, they have a choice. I mentioned this choice before, calling it ‘fight or flight’. This decision is what leads soldiers to either surrender or beat the enemy into submission. What makes most humans so sad is that they mostly make the wrong choice. If they can harness their fear, nothing could stand in their way. By choosing to run, they give up so much. When they stand and fight, they are truly formidable.

What I am about to tell you is the story of how I came to be the most feared being of all time. How I fought fear itself, and won, enslaving it, ensuring my rightful place in human history. Along my path to conquest, many men and women stood in my way, but none of them ever succeeded in stopping me, only delaying the inevitable. By allowing you to hear this, I am declaring a challenge, and issuing a warning.
